Q:How many #10 Cans fit in a box?
A:  Six cans fit in a standard #10 can box which is 18.75" x 12.75" x 7.25".

Q:Can I order just one can of something?
A: Absolutely! We have no minimum order! Many customers order one can of this, and one can of that. If you plan to buy many total cans, you might want to adjust the total number of cans so it is divisible by 6. This way the cases are in identically sized boxes which makes it easy to stack and store the boxes. We are happy to ship odd numbers of cans though. Your boxes may not stack quite as neatly.

The full range of Mountain House Cans are in stock! Vacuum packed and Nitrogen flushed for up to a 30-Year Shelf Life! Mountain House #10 cans are manufactured with a unique canning process which uses both vacuum oxygen removal and nitrogen flushing (the same process as mandaded by the U.S. Military, for which Mountain House cans are also produced). Each #10 can is coated with a protective enamel inside and out for double protection, including the lid. The can contents are protected until you are ready to open and use. After opening, the manufacturer recommends using the contents within 1 to 2 weeks for best results and taste, using the convenient resealable plastic lid (provided with each can) between uses. Treat any leftover contents as you would fresh food. A Mountain House #10 can is about the size of a 1 gallon paint can. Q: What is a "Stocking Distributor"?
A: Others on the web who sell this product may not have physical stock on hand like we do. They rely on having the product separately drop-shipped to you directly from the manufacturer. This process increases shipping costs and adds delays in getting product to the customer. We don't like that because we typically ship our customer's orders within 24 hours!

The large size can, called a #10, is about the size of a 1 gallon paint can. Its the most widely used size for delivering large amounts of product to food service users, like restaurants. If you have ever been to a Costco warehouse and have seen a huge can of Tomatoes, that is a #10 can. The smaller can in the photo is basically 1/4 the size of the #10 can. The industry calls it a #2-1/2 can size. It is larger than most cans you find at your local super market.

Q:  What is the shelf life and storage conditions for Gourmet Reserves foods?
A:  The shelf life varies upon the contents of the can, anywhere from 8 to 15+ years (depending upon temperature/storage conditions). We have posted a separate section detailing specific estimated shelf life and storage recommendations for Gourmet Reserves products (scroll down). It is recommended to use the contents of opened cans within 1 to 2 weeks (using resealable lid between uses).

Preparedness Garden Seeds and Herbs

Mountain Oven: Flameless Heating Kit for Mountain House Pouches

This kit works like the MRE heaters we have sold for many years, but this is specially - designed to heat Mountain House freeze dried foods that are packaged in pouches!

• The Mountain Oven Flameless Heating Kit is designed to heat any Mountain House pouch product.
• Heats Mountain House products in 20 minutes.
• Just add ambient temperature, potable (clean) water to Mountain House meals as usual, activate the Mountain Oven using the provided items with the kit, place the Mountain House pouch inside the oven and "the heat is on."
• The Mountain Oven heating process increases water temperature to about 100° F.
• Be sure to follow / read the Mountain Oven instructions, and you will understand the procedure. The short version is that, when you use this kit, you don't need to have hot water to make a hot meal using our Mountain House pouch-style food! Very cool, check that, very HOT (to quote Paris Hilton)!

There will not be instructions for how to use the replacement MRE style pads with your kit, but you will get how the process works the first time you use the oven.
